WordPress 2.5 Duplicate Autosave Drafts

KarmaDude Mar 31, 2008 Add comment

After upgrading to the recently released WordPress 2.5, I have been noticing duplicate autosave draft posts. Looks like this issue is caused by the use of custom fields in posts. The number of duplicate draft posts increases with the number of custom fields being used. There is an issue logged for this, and a discussion related to this issue underway in the forums.

The duplicate drafts are not deleted after the post has been published, and would require manual deletion. If you are experiencing this issue, then here is the suggested work around from the forum:

Before creating your custom fields SAVE your post.

Vector Magic: Convert bitmap to vector

KarmaDude Nov 1, 2007 Add comment

Vector Magic, an online auto-tracer from Stanford University, can be used to convert bitmap images to vector. Currently it’s tuned for tracing photographs and logos. The vector output is available in EPS and SVG formats. Here is a test image which was converted to vector, using the default settings.

GmailI just noticed my Gmail space has increased to 4GB from 2GB. Seems a little stingy to me, is it that difficult for Google to give unlimited storage?!

Mileage

My Mile Marker
My Mile Marker, a site by Sidebar Creative, is a very simple way to track your fuel consumption. I have been using it since July, and if you are regular in updating the site with fuel usage information, you will soon start to see stats like the one below.

Date Odometer Gallons Price MPG
Aug 21, 2007 62768 12.87 $2.639 N/A
Aug 13, 2007 62425 13.88 $2.699 26.65
Aug 4, 2007 62041 12.78 $2.689 27.67
Jul 29 2007 61693 11.53 $2.839 27.23
Jul 21, 2007 61392 13.62 $2.879 26.11

Well, at least the gas price is going down! I usually write down the mileage on the bill and enter the information on the website, but for convenience, My Mile Marker provides both a mobile version of the site, and the option to send data via twitter.

The site is still in its infancy and lacking in features, but definitely has potential. I wish it had some social aspect to it, like showing most efficient fuel consumers, cars, location, etc. A Facebook application of this kind of service would be nice.

My iTunes Widgets

My iTunes
Not wanting to be felt left out, in the social networking world, by the likes of iLike, Apple releases My iTunes–a set of self-updating add-ons for your web page, social-networking profile, or blog. My iTunes will now enable you to share your iTunes purchases, favorites, and reviews on your websites.

Currently the widgets come in three sizes, five color options, and requires Flash. Other than the widget, there is also the RSS feed url, which provides your iTunes activities via a feed. Overall pretty good for an initial release. The only thing stupid is that you have to use iTunes to enable the settings for My iTunes, which then takes you to a web page to customize and get the widget code and RSS feed url.

In other Apple news, take a look at the 52 page, printed on both sides, iPhone bill. So much for going green!!
