The Darjeeling Limited

Saw Wes Anderson’s, The Darjeeling Limited today, and it was a very enjoyable, feel good, and humorous movie, which brought back some wonderful old forgotten memories of India. Great performance by Owen Wilson, Adrian Brody, and Jason Schwartzman as the three brothers. The soundtrack was fabulous too; great mesh of sound bites from old Satyajit Ray and Merchant Ivory movies.

In the end, this movie brought back some forgotten childhood memories of train trips. Especially the one where my favorite thing to do on a train was to stick my face against the window grill in order to get a glimpse of the train engine whenever the rails curved.
At a personal level it reminded me that I haven’t talked to my brother in almost a year, and how far apart we have grown over the last 10 years. Maybe it’s time for us to do a Darjeeling Limited kind of trip to go back to how we used to be. And all this was not cheap either, Matinee ticket for 2 - $11, Soundtrack from iTunes - $11.99, but considering entertainment value, unlocking of old memories, and having hit a personal note, it was priceless in the end!
