MT Grid 1.2

Media Temple has announced a new upgrade to the much hyped GRID system, which will take effect on March 2nd. All my sites have been on the GRID server since November 06, and been experiencing frequent MySQL crashes, ftp disconnects, CRON failures, and overall slow performance.
Hopefully the damage to Media Temple’s name done by the Grid can at least level off if you get this right. I’m a little irked that the MySQL Connections is now in the “Resolved” category a week before the fix is even in place. We’ll see if 1.2 actually makes this a reality. 1.1 didn’t. I truly hope 1.2 is the answer. For me, when MySQL crashes, the Grid crashes.

So, I am really looking forward to some of the fixes and features included in this updates: MySQL GridContainers, improved FTP, enhanced CRON system, and 400% increase in storage performance. Like usual MT has the spin on in terms of the GRID’s performance, but knowing the track record of the GRID, I will wait until I evaluate it before showering the praises! However, I really hope this update will resolve some of my gripes with the system.

I, too, hope that (mt) gets it right this time. I’ve been having terrible SQL performance. It makes me want to switch to another host.
