Cricket, Steel & Vistas
It’s past midnight, and you should have seen me frantically hitting the refresh button to see Tendulkar make his 100 in 78 balls, with 10 fours and a six, on the last ball. It should be interesting to see how the West Indies bat against a target of 341 set by India. From the God of Cricket to the God of Tennis, I was hoping for a clash of epic proportions at the Australian Open Men’s final, but Roger Federer was just spectacular and probably unstoppable at this point. It brought back memories from childhood, of watching another tennis great, Björn Borg play.
On the business battle front, the suspense is finally over in the Indian Tata vs. Brazillian CSN battle to take over steelmaker Corus. Tata won with a take over bid of $11.3b, and the merger creating the 5th largest steelmaker in the world. On the techy front, if you are into looking at your web stats in a fancy way, then you might want to check out mint 2. There are plenty of reviews and criticism out there on this newest version of mint. As for me, I don’t get enough hits to justify paying for a stats package, but if I were to buy one, mint would be the one.
It looks like Microsoft is everywhere with Vista promotions and announcements, Bill Gates was depressing on the Daily Show, and judging from this gloomy picture, I am a little skeptical about Vista. Now a not-so-proud admission, I do have an upgrade to Vista which came with the purchase of my dell laptop, but sensing the air of cautious inversion, I will probably wait a while before upgrading. Staying with Microsoft, I find it baffling that they spent a year searching for desktop wallpapers to package with Vista, how lame is that?!
