Moved to Media Temple

I have moved counterjumper.com and karmadude.com to the new Grid-Server on Media Temple. You have probably noticed some weird behavior with these two sites the last couple of weeks. The server at eleven2 (my previous hosting provider) crashed more than a week back, and they have been unable to completely recover from it. This was the main reason for the move. I still feel that eleven2 is a great hosting company, but I was not satisfied with how they managed a severe server crash.
Both counterjumper.com and karmadude.com have been restored from my backups, which were a couple of weeks old, and so there is some data loss, but not as severe as I thought it would be. I have recovered some of the lost data, but I have lost some of the recent posts. I am hoping eleven2 will be able to recover some of the lost data. If you notice any weird behavior or dead links, do let me know, so I can resolve them.
Overall, I am very impressed with how easy it was to switch to Media Temple and setup everything seamlessly. In the next few days, I will share some of my thoughts on how you can better manage your sites, prepare yourselves for big crashes, and how to recover successfully from crashes.
Regular blogging will resume shortly.
UPDATE: 5 Minutes after I posted this, Media Temple MYSQL server went down a couple of times, but it was back up fast. Maybe I spoke too soon, so I am going to closely watch Media Temple performance and stability, before I shower them with praises.
UPDATE: (mt) and Corporate Responsibility. Avlonstar’s view of the fall of the grid. Sounds more like customer loyalty than Corporate Responsibility. As a new customer I feel (mt) has handled this situation well, and reasoning that they could have ignored the situation does not make sense, especially when the grid is being advertised as the next big thing in hosting. As a new customer, satisfaction is the key, so far I have given (mt) the benefit of the doubt, but if things get worse, I am off in search of the holy grail of hosting!

Zack, I am loving the gs so far. However, it does go down occasionally, but usually not more than a few minutes, and no data loss so far. I am really impressed with their prompt response and overall performance of gs.
I have not done any rails development on the gs yet, so not really sure how well that works. But, if you are looking for something more stable, then I would probably recommend mt’s dedicated servers.
